The Weldmart Centurion Upgrade Replacement Idle PC Board

It maybe the last idle board you you will ever buy?

We have been manufacturing (in house) and selling the Centurion idler PC board or ove15 years, I can count one hand the number of warranty claims we have had on this product. It solves the number one problem with the Lincoln OEM (obsolete from Lincoln Electric), reliability.

Lincoln used a cheap transistor, they thought would work (know int he electronics world as a scaracial transistor). It is an electrical switch. a small  voltage changes one side from an insulator (will stop current from flowing). When the transistor will generate heat, no problem if the transistor is good and mounted in away that the heat  can dissipate it.

Cheap aftermarkey idle board with dead transistor! What did they leave out, TR1 on the  board is missing?

The biggest headache the welder faces is when his idler stops working. What do you do? The board is designed to make the welder's life easier.

1. The GREEN LED should always be lit when the engine is running, and the auto/manual idle toggle switch is "ON". No GREEN LED, stop. You have either lost 12 volts coming to the board, or you have a bad ground.

2. When the YELLOW LED is "ON," the idle solenoid should be pulled in and the machine should be in Low idle. If the LED is on and the solenoid is not pulled in, check the idle solenoid.

     a. It should feel free, moved in and out with no binding.

     b. Remove the #4 wire and touch it to one of the board                     mounting screws. It should spark, and the solenoid pulls in instantly and stays in until you remove #4 to ground.

     c. No go? One side of the idler coil should have 12 volts                between it and ground. (If you can check the voltage with a test light or meter.

Need tools to test your machine?

      c. If it does not move, do a field sobriety check on the PC board. With the machine running,  the GREEN and YELLOW  LED are on, pass a magnet over the black box (lower right-hand corner) over the sensor. The board should "Trip", the YELLOW LED goes out. The Red LED comes on for about 20 seconds, goes out and the YELLOW LED comes back on. If for any reason the sobriety fails, please call our office. The number is at the bottom of the page. Even if you are not the original customer, we offer free telephone help.
