Shunt coil failure is one of the most common stator failures in Lincoln DC welders. In our opinion Lincoln coils are cheaply made and prone to unexpected failure. Replacing these coils is an expensive and labor intensive, you only want to to do it once.

Lincoln shunt coils are normally made of aluminum. There is nothing wrong with using aluminum wire as long as it will carry the necessary current. The problem is the insulation; their coils are wound on a sheet metal core with paper insulation. The wire corrodes (paper absorbs moisture) and breaks.

Weldmart shunt coils are unique in the industry. Our coils are wound on a proprietary injection-molded plastic "bobbin". The desoghn of the bobbin locks the coils into the stator frame-it doesn't move. They are wound with solid copper wire. Made in the USA, not wound in somebodies gargage in Mexico. We offer a 10-year warranty on units sold "over the counter." When we install them in our shop, we provide a lifetime warranty to the original customer. Thirty-six years, no failures!

We need the code number off your machine, normally four or five digits sometimes a letter.
