This is an answer to your
solenoid problem.
Lincoln Electric has obsoleted the original M13394 SA-250 idler solenoid. I understand why these were surprisingly reliable. They either lost their supplier, or it was a bad business to keep selling them.

Lincoln Electric has obsoleted the AC Exciter bracket, P/N L6061-X. This fundamental part is found on most Lincoln engine-driven welders with auxiliary AC power.
