Whenever I am asked my opinion on what used diesel welder to look for, there is only one machine I feel
comfortable recommending., The Lincoln Classic 2 with a Deutz diesel. Based on my experience, it is the most reliable and simplest diesel welder ever manufactured. I recently told a customer that if he found a used one for $ 5,000. And invested another $10,000.00 in it, he would be money ahead. Never confuse dollars vs. Value. Think about it: What new diesel can you purchase and know you can maintain it for the foreseeable future? I don't know.

The image shows the Weldmart upgrade idler system. This system upgrades all code numbers for the Classic 2. The solenoid is powerful; it can instantly pull 10 amps. We install an
"isolation" relay. Your Lincoln idle/engine protection board uses what we call a "sacrificial transistor" that turns "on" and pulls in
the idle solenoid. The original board, L10827-X, was repairable and utilized a very robust relay with a two-million-cycle life, which was significantly more expensive than a $1.00 transistor.
This image is of the original (good) idle/engine protection PC board. Complicated, but it worked well and was easy to repair.

The new Lincoln Idler/Engine protection board is another simplification (cheaper) design. It is now potted and non-repairable. At the time of this writing, it is still available $560.00+
