The Lincoln "Pipeliner" Model SA-200 P/N:K6090 used the four cylinder Continental F-162 and F-163 engine. The American Bosch MRD-4A302-WW magneto was used on many of these welders. Lincoln Electric purchased the Continental engine as a "long block", the added the carburetor, starter, magneto (or distributor), governor, and electrical system . The advantage of the magneto, is that the engine does need an electrical system for reliable ignition and the machine can be "hand started". The disadvantage is the high maintenance costs and availability of repair parts. If you have a Continental F-163, you can easily upgrade this engine with our electronic ignition kit.
